One Pan Beef Ramen (Family Friendly Style)

Serves: 4
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 15–20 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 500g beef mince

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

  • 1/4 cup tamari sauce

  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce

  • 2 tbsp of miso paste

  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 3 cups water (with 1 tsp beef broth powder – optional for extra flavor)

  • 1 large bunch of bok choy (or other greens like bean sprouts, spinach, shredded cabbage)

  • 1 packet ramen noodles (Hakubaku organic ramen noodles work well)

  • 2–4 boiled eggs (optional, for topping)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking the meat)

  • 1–2 tbsp sesame oil (for flavor and garnish)

  • Sesame seeds & sliced spring onion, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Beef:

    • Heat olive oil in a large deep pan or wok over medium heat.

    • Add the beef mince and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.

    • Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 1–2 minutes until fragrant.

  2. Add the Sauces:

    • Pour in the soy sauce, tamari, and hoisin sauce and miso paste.

    • Mix everything together until the beef is well coated in the sauce.

  3. Add Water & Noodles:

    • Add 3 cups of water and beef broth powder (if using). Bring to a simmer.

    • Add the ramen noodles and stir gently to prevent sticking.

    • Cook according to the noodle package instructions (typically 4–6 minutes), until noodles are just tender.

  4. Add Greens:

    • Stir in chopped bok choy or any other greens you're using.

    • Cook for an additional 2–3 minutes, just until wilted but still vibrant.

  5. Boil Eggs (Optional):

    • While the noodles cook, boil eggs in a separate pot to your preferred doneness (soft-boiled takes about 6–7 minutes).

    • Peel and halve for serving.

  6. Finish & Serve:

    • Drizzle in 1–2 tablespoons of sesame oil and stir through.

    • Spoon into bowls and top with boiled eggs, sesame seeds, and sliced spring onions.

Family-Friendly Notes:

  • This is a thicker-style ramen — not too soupy, which makes it easier for young kids to eat without too much mess.

  • If you prefer a soupier consistency, you can add an extra 1–2 cups of water or broth during cooking.

  • It’s mild and comforting as-is, but you can offer chili oil, sriracha, or crushed red pepper on the side for grown-ups who want a kick.

  • Kids love the soft noodles and sweet-savory sauce — and the veggies can be swapped depending on what your family likes.
