Cheesy Bone Broth Crackers
Cheesy Bone Broth Crackers
Makes: About 50 small crackers • Prep Time: 10–15 mins • Bake Time: 12–15 mins
Crispy, savoury crackers made with bone broth, cheese, and butter — nutrient-dense and freezer-friendly.
Ingredients
2–3 tbsp unflavoured bone broth glue
¼ cup water
2 cups grated cheddar cheese
1½ cups plain flour (spelt or all-purpose)
½ cup cold grated or cubed butter
½–1 tsp salt, to taste
Method
Mix bone broth: In a small bowl or jug, stir the bone broth powder into the water until dissolved. Set aside.
Combine dry ingredients: In a food processor or large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
Add butter and cheese:
Add the cold butter and grated cheese to the flour.
Pulse in a food processor (or use fingertips/pastry blender) until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Add bone broth liquid:
Slowly pour in the prepared bone broth mixture while mixing.
Blend or stir until the dough just comes together — it should be soft but not sticky. If needed, add an extra 1–2 tsp cold water.
Roll out the dough:
Flatten the dough into a disc, wrap, and chill for 10 minutes (optional, but helps with rolling).
Roll out between two sheets of baking paper to approx. 3–4mm thick.
Cut into shapes:
Use a small cookie cutter, knife, or pizza wheel to cut into squares or fun shapes.
Transfer to a lined baking tray, spacing them just slightly apart.
Bake at 180°C (160°C fan) for 12–15 minutes, or until golden and crisp.
Let cool completely on a wire rack — they’ll firm up as they cool.
Tips & Variations
Seasoning idea: Sprinkle with extra salt, garlic powder, or nutritional yeast before baking.
Freezer-friendly: Freeze dough pre-cut, or freeze baked crackers in airtight containers.
Cheese swap: Use tasty cheese, Colby, or half parmesan for a sharper bite.
